What a cracker of start for the new year with this chilling book💥💥💥💥

The Whisper Man is a creepy and absorbing thriller with a feeling of menace that permeates each and every page in the book. But what I absolutely loved about it is that there’s an emotionally painful subject of a grieving father who is trying to connect to his equally sensitive son. Tom Kennedy has lost his cherished wife Rebecca and fighting the heartache and desolation, he decides to move to a new town called Featherbank where he hopes his son Jake would be better suited and be normal like other children. Jake is a painfully shy child with imaginary friends for companionship, his docile and odd nature often making him a target for bullying.

But Featherbank is a place with a dark past where 20 yrs before a serial killer called Frank Carter nicknamed The Whisper Man had kidnapped lonely children torturing them to death. Now in the present day, another kid has gone missing in similar way to the workings of The Whisper Man and DI Pete Wills who originally worked the mystery and was instrumental in nabbing Frank along with DI Amanda Beck are hot on the case going over everything with a fine-tooth comb.

There are parts of the story that leaves the reader chilled to the bone, like references to the corpse moth and the extremely horrifying Norman Collins whose obsession makes one want to puke, well there are all kinds of monsters in the world. Alex North has delivered a crafty and disquieting thriller with its supernatural overtones and twists that were purely brilliant. I loved Jake and Tom’s relationship and also the calm strength of Pete. It is an incredible effort by the author that each and every character in this story leaves a mark and even the killer when undisguised made me feel pity.
