YES…. YES…. I know it’s the month of October, Halloween month, the month of witches, ghosts, demons and monsters but trust me when every other story begins to scare you death, there should definitely be something that would make you smile and I found that with Warrior Of The Glen, book # 6 in the Glen Highland Romance series but no worries these are perfectly good as stand-alone as each story has a different couple in focus.

The Warrior Of The Glen is a sweet and moving story of a young girl coming to terms with her grief. The trauma that Brenna endures as a 12 yr. old is unbearable and for 6 years she has been hiding herself from the world. Rafe MacKay is also hiding, from a dreaded clan name, from the cruelty of his kinsmen, wanting to earn a name for himself to prove his worth and thus deciding to join Bruce’s army. As fate conspires to bring these two lost souls together, Rafe helps Brenna to heal and come to terms with the reality of her situation.

It is commendable that the author has such a way with words that the beauty of Scotland comes alive with the descriptive details. It is so easy to be transported to the very beautiful Scotland with the flawless writing. The romance is touching as Brenna’s grief leaves a mark in the reader. Her character is such that anyone would want to protect the broken soul and Rafe’s gesture to protect her from himself was loving and made it all the more captivating.

Each and every character like Duncan, Nevan, Kellan and the stand-in laird Robert and his side story with Anne and even the very wise Dawn were all very delightful and it was hard not to like these lovable giants. There’s a rich sense of family in the Fraser clan that was depicted well and gives a feeling of warmth and love.

Highly recommended for all fans of historical romances.

That man happens to be Rafael MacKay, a devilishly handsome Highlander who is also in hiding. He’s taken on the name of Rafe MacLeod, as his MacKay kin are despised by many. And when he meets a strange lad named Bren, he has no compunctions of keeping that lie going.

Until Rafe learns that Bren is really Brenna, and he understands why he had such an odd reaction to her. But she knows him as Rafe MacLeod. Her hiding is a result of a tragic history, and the last thing he wants to do is complicate matters by admitting who he truly is.

Unfortunately, as his love for Brenna deepens, he learns more of her history and realizes if she ever discovers who he is, she would hate him forever. But he doesn’t expect her to fall for him as well, and they have to keep their love hidden from the distrustful eyes of her clan.

When the moment comes that Rafe’s true identity is discovered and he realizes he could lose everything, Rafe is most distraught that Brenna might turn from him, that his MacKay ties will be stronger than his passionate ties to Brenna.

And at that final hour, Brenna must make a choice – a choice that will mean life or death for Rafe.

The Warrior of the Glen is a standalone story by award winning author Michelle Deerwester-Dalrymple, packed with passion and romance and redemption, set on the beautiful backdrop of the Scottish Highlands, and does not shy away from steamy scenes, occasional archaic curses, and accurate scenes of Medieval life!
