Many thanks to Net Galley, Bookouture and Shalini Boland for the ARC of The Other Daughter.
I did actually delay reading this coz was just not in a frame of a mind to start with yet another child abduction story but once I began, kept banging my head over the delay.
The Other Daughter is a brilliant and convoluted thriller. The story begins with Catriona caked with mud walking off with a child that’s not hers from a shopping mall play area. The other segment of the story shows us Rachel who is in a happy relationship with Mark and 2 children who is yet to divulge the loss of her elder daughter Holly to her family. During a school run she befriends a new mom Kate whose elder daughter Bella resembles Holly and thus begins the twisty and crazy tale. Rachel is convinced that Bella is Holly and is determined to do whatever it takes to win her back, her actions becoming more and more crazier by the day.
Shalini Boland has written a fantastic thriller that makes the reader believe a particular scenario and at the end throws every thing out of the window. This had such a jaw-dropping twist that had me going “oh my”.
Highly recommended.
