My Rating
Book Review
Elizabeth Hoyt is an author I really need to catch up to, she is absolutely fantastic at creating romances with such depth that one’s heart soars with the passion and love depicted in the book.
What was totally surprising for me in this book was the absence of any villains or complex emotional dramas that tend to drag the plot in some books, The Raven Prince delves into the pure psychology of a person’s feelings for another. Anna and Edward are genuine characters that one feels like having met somewhere, their attraction is strong and of course, there are problems that have to be overcome before a happily ever after scenario can be achieved but reaching up to that point was a beautiful journey.
The only hitch I can think about in this book is the sub plot of 2 sisters whom Anna helps and the plot that follows which I kept thinking was not really necessary, oh well, the angst had to come from somewhere so it was OK. The secondary characters need a special mention, each of them, be it mother Wren, or the cranky Davis and the colorful waistcoat wearing Hopple all of them evoking laughter and smiles throughout.
Nope, there is nothing extraordinary in this but if you are looking for a well-written feel good historical romance then The Raven Prince is a perfect choice.
