Book Review
Just when you think you have read all the permutations and the combinations of ghost stories, Veronica Bale comes up with a totally different ghostly romance story. This is the second book I am reading by this author and am glad that her stories are of the genre that I devour madly. Ghosts, romance, Victorian mansions, all these are subjects that I would always go in search of in between all that mystery thrillers that boggle the mind.
Halloran Farm comes alive with the writing by the author. I loved how she manages to twist and tweak the reader’s perception regarding the ghost that Tilly encounters first when she is small and then how things change, and Tilly becomes comfortable with having him around. The romance between Tilly and Ciaran was layered and I didn’t really see that ending coming. Quite surprising, and well, it is fiction and sometimes even imagination can play havoc in your mind.
Tilly’s psychic abilities and her easygoing and warm relationship with her cousin Matt and the tension in the family add to the drama of the story that unfolds but would have surely loved Gram being around more.
Charming!
Book Blurb
Halloran Farm—a lonely plot of land and an abandoned Victorian farmhouse. Nearly a century ago it was the site of a gruesome murder which, to this day, resonates within its decaying walls.
COMPASSION. REDEMPTION. IF SHE CAN FIND ONE, SHE CAN DELIVER THE OTHER.
Tilly Bright is a girl with an extraordinary gift, one which she never wanted and which she has spent a lifetime trying to suppress. At twelve years old Tilly vowed she would never again set foot in her grandmother’s farmhouse. Never again would she allow her sensitive mind to be attacked and manipulated by the vengeful, hate-filled spirit that inhabits it. He is called The Shadow. Nothing remains of his humanity except for the rage that consumes him over his long-ago death.
Upon her grandmother’s passing, however, Tilly has no choice—she must go back. Halloran Farm is now hers, as is a significant inheritance which is meant to help her restore the crumbling Victorian to its former beauty. It is what Gram wanted. And Tilly is no longer a frightened child unable to cope with a gift she does not understand. To fulfill Gram’s wishes, she will have to find within herself the strength to confront The Shadow. When she does, she will have to reconsider everything she thought she knew about her gift, about the dead, and about The Shadow himself.
Even the most hateful spirits deserve compassion. For through it, they may find their way to redemption.

Sounds like a perfect book to read on Halloween! Nice review!
It was an easy read Noelle.
I hope you are doing well. I am trying to get the final version of my book to my editor by Dec 1. Not a mystery this time!
That’s such wonderful news… Historical is it??
Yes, it’s sort of a YA and adult about Daniel Boone.
Absolutely delightful news…Bring it ON, Noelle😊
