Single by K.L. Slater

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

How does K L Slater manage this? I have read quite a few of Slater’s books and each one of them has baffled me to the core with its twists and turns. It’s not like one big surprise, more of a series of totally unexpected direction the story takes that always astounds me. Most of her principal characters are themselves unreliable making it more of a muddle in our minds and sometimes there are chapters interspersed that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever but she always, always brings perfect clarity by the end chapter where even the infinitesimally small speck of detail is cleared.

Single is the story of Darcy a widow with 2 sons who has had trouble adjusting to her husband’s death, the grief rendering her unable to take care of her 2 boys for sometime. Her in-laws step into provide timely help but soon becomes micro-controlling so much that even after 4 yrs, she’s not given the blessing to step out there and start dating. The trouble starts brewing as she meets a handsome doctor George who is a doctor and a single father. There’s difficulties from every corner and the agitation soon puts Darcy in a soup with no clear way of moving forward.

The story is fast-paced and thrilling that keeps the reader glued to the pages and recommended to all readers who love a good thriller.

Many Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and KL Slater for a chance to read and review this book.
