My Rating

So good…so good…so good… Thank you Ilona Andrews for saving me, for the absolute high I got after reading this, for the delicious villainous hero in Rogan and the perfect ass-kicking heroine and a fantasy world that totally blew my mind.. an offering of the yummiest, mouth watering scrumptious chocolate tart that melts at first bite. The Hidden Legacy series is probably the first series after Harry Potter that I am tempted to binge-read and the only time I didn’t want any ARCs waiting to be read in my pile…Even knowing that I did pick up book #2 White Hot immediately but was guilt-ridden to read book #3 Wildfire without blowing my schedule out of the window.
Ilona Andrews creates a fantasy world of humans injected with a serum that makes them magically inclined. There are different houses with a head or PRIME as they are referred to and the world of mages and aerokinetics, pyrokinetics, and whatnot takes the readers for a roller coaster spin. The word building is fantastic and the cool and witty repartees that the characters engage in delivered with a straight face were such crackers that I was laughing my head off.
Rogan is, oh my, the quintessential anti-hero, the bad boy, the mad sociopath, a man called the Scourge of Mexico for his crazy talents and intense “I don’t give a damn attitude” and boy, how I loved his character. The chemistry between him and Nevada was out of the world but unexpectedly the author keeps the romance subtle while focussing on the mystery behind Adam Pierce and his rampage. With a set of colorful Baylor family members including a grandmother whose dialogues had me guffawing at odd times, all pitching in for Nevada, the authors have kicked BURN FOR ME out of the ballpark. Nevada as the no-nonsense PI hiding her magical powers is the perfect foil to Rogan’s antics and it was refreshing to read about her inner thoughts, calculating pros and cons and not falling for Rogan.
Well, obviously I cannot stop myself from gushing non-stop about this book, but BURN FOR ME is gonna be bought and kept on my shelf and since I have not had enough of Mad Rogan, I am gonna try the audiobook version also. AVON BOOKS should seriously consider giving a different cover image for the book coz for that electrifying story, I don’t think the image does it complete justice.
Review for White Hot (Hidden Legacy #2)
Review for Wildfire (Hidden Legacy #3)

Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.
Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.
Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.
